Talk to us early
If your project depends on computing, storage or protected data, talk to us before the proposal is final. We can help you choose services, estimate what to budget from the official rate sheets, and check that your data plan matches what the services you name are designed for. Request a consultation.
Facilities and data management text
- UCR Facilities, Equipment and Other Resources: template text describing campus research computing resources.
- HPCC facility description: maintained by the HPCC.
- UCR Campus Cyberinfrastructure Plan.
- The UCR Library can help with data management plans.
Template text describes what is generally available. Check that what you name in a proposal fits your project, and confirm current terms with the service before you commit to them in a budget.
Budgeting
- Use the official rate sheets. Costs lists the current published rates and links each one to its source.
- UCR NSF budget template (spreadsheet).
- Funder rules on computing costs vary. For NSF, see the Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide.
- National allocations (NSF ACCESS, NAIRR Pilot) can supplement campus resources, and are awarded separately from your grant.
Sensitive and regulated data
If the award will involve controlled data (NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, controlled-access NIH data, or a restrictive data use agreement), contact us before you submit. A data security plan and the secure enclave take time to set up, and the costs belong in the budget.
